ROCK | Hayley Jane & The Primates

By their nature jam bands play for a long time. They jam, it's what they do. And when going to see one of these extrapolative collectives, it's often a safe bet to wear comfortable shoes and pack a lunch. But for something a little less trance-inducing, try some Hayley Jane & The Primates. Hayley Jane sings big and bluesy, coming on like a hurricane. You can't look away. The music has this Beantown woman seemingly under the spell of The Primates' nasty grooves as she wails and flails across the stage casting spells of her own. Careful, you might lose your mind.

Hayley Jane & The Primates play with Ocular Panther on Wednesday, March 28, at Funk 'N Waffles, 204 North Water Street. 9 p.m. $10. rochester.funknwaffles.com; hayleyjaneandtheprimates.com.
