My Australian-born wife practically peed her pants when she heard that Melbourne's King Parrot was coming to town. This is a perfect band for those who divide their head-banging time between metal and hardcore. King Parrot plays with reckless punk abandon, a la the D.C. scene of days gone by, with the precision of thrash metal surgeon. It's violent, urgent, and fun for the whole family. This could be a blood bath. I'll see you there.
King Parrot performs with Vattnet Viskar, Blurring, and The Highest Leviathan on Wednesday, April 2, at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Ave. 9 p.m. $10-$12. bugjar.com.
