ROCK | Sky People

Local band Sky People describes itself as being "a crowd of cloud-dwellers [who] coalesce to create cacophonous compositions." Alliteration aside, Sky People is a band that has a clear reverence for the psychedelic rock that came out of the 60's, made obvious thanks to the band's frequent use of rich harmonies and its relaxed, laid-back vibe. The band's music is reminiscent of current bands like Fleet Foxes, Dr. Dog, and The Dirty Projectors. Sky People's music feels natural and grounded, devoid of the bells, whistles, and filters that often come with contemporary rock.

Sky People performs with The Reactions and The Grey Light on Friday, May 17, 9 p.m. at Tala Vera, 155 State St. $5-$7. tala-vera.com.
