ROCK | The Martin Barre

Ian Anderson may have provided the voice and distinctively breathy flute playing, but he wasn't the only great musician in Jethro Tull. From the group's second album on, Martin Barre contributed a guitar sound that ranged from a subtle Renaissance picking to epic rock 'n' roll. Barre and Anderson played together in Jethro Tull for 43 years. When he hits the Lovin' Cup stage, Barre will be mining the group's catalog filled with classics like "Aqualung," "Thick as a Brick," and "Living in the Past."

Martin Barre performs Tuesday, September 13, and Wednesday, September 14, at Lovin' Cup, 300 Park Point Drive. 8 p.m. both nights. $25 advance; $30 door. 271-3354; lovincup.com.
