Re: “Integrated school still far off

I think that the message of Nikole Hannah-Jones was that parents can and should choose integrated schools TODAY. What GS4A is trying to do is wonderful, but there is no need to wait.

Re: “Rochester's school choice policy is under review

Most RCSD schools are much smaller than 1000. My children's school has 300
students (two classrooms per grade). You can chose a small school if that is important
to you, but then again the schools in Brighton also have ~1000 students (300 per grade).

Re: “Another schools ‘solution’ that avoids the big issue

Fortunately, Wilson IB provides the type of academically competitive
program that this column advocates. It is intellectually rigorous and has helped
keep (some) middle class families in the city. There is only one such
program in RCSD - but there are plenty of spaces available to kids who
are up for the challenge.

Re: “Genesee in unchartered territory

1) The state charter law was amended in 2010 to require charters to reflect their
home district in terms of free and reduced lunch. This is not a "last minute" challenge.

2) GCCS has 26% free and reduced lunch while Monroe County has 46% free and reduced lunch. GCCS does not reflect the demographics of the county.

Re: “Education in crisis: it has come down to naming teachers
