Musical compositions from the 21st century that feature combinations of the viola, voice, and electronics. Nico Muhly, Kaija Saariaho, and Missy Mazzoli's works for viola and electronics contain recorded vocal elements while Lanzilotti and Weisenberg's works for solo viola require the violist to vocalize while playing. While each work is vastly different from one another, all explore aspects of breath, timbral shifts, and depth of meaning.
