Re: “Frederick Douglass statue damaged; police arrest two

Amazing, and amusing, how in the 21st. Century people like George still cling to the scientifically- debunked belief that there is a "white" race, a "black" race, etc. Less amusing is how, like various Germanic "scientists" who spent decades seeking to prove the racial superiority of "whites", he now tries to use race to the advantage of one group versus another. I await his enlightening us as to just what constitutes a "white" for purposes of banning someone from performing rap or hip hop music.

Re: “Election Day 2018

I would be interested in hearing some Libertarian explain how Sharpe as governor would be able to do any better than the current governor and his predecessors, given that the Democrats and Republicans will still control the state legislature. The claim that he has "new ideas" or a plan to fix the state merely calls for the wheezy old response that Custer also had a plan.

Re: “Election Day 2018

I agree with Cupid. It was highly predictable that City would back the most qualified candidates, namely Democrats, in order to build a wall, a firewall that is, against the firestorm of ignorance ignited by Donald Trump and his fellow GOP arsonists.

Re: “The New York governor's race: big choices, little attention

Always amazed how the Left is able to field almost as many conspiracy cranks as the Right. That City made the perfectly understandable decision to forego publishing a photo of Mr. Sharpe couldn't possibly have been because of space limitations or the obvious fact that that he isn't a viable candidate for governor (at best he'll poll about 4% of the vote) or that Libertarianism is a bad joke of a political philosophy (accurately described as "Government of the selfish, by the selfish, and for the selfish"). It MUST have been because of some convoluted form of liberal bias that seeks to perpetuate an Evil Political Duopoly and manipulate reality to make it seem that Persons of Color can only run as Democrats.

Re: “Feedback 3/21

CHARLOTTE BALTUS - The answer is that there was (and is) no rational reason for providing pedestrian or bicycle access to the Douglass-Anthony Bridge. It sits suspended well above street level. It does not connect areas of significant foot/bicycle traffic. And the Court Street Bridge sits a mere couple of hundred feet north and provides easy access across the river. If you want a bridge issue to complain about, I suggest getting upset about Bob Duffy's reborn brainstorm to decimate downtown auto travel by ripping out the Broad Street Bridge and replacing it with a stagnant frog pond....I mean a "re-watered" "aqueduct park.

Re: “Louise Slaughter: Political leaders and the public praise her service

Not surprisingly, Republican Speaker Ryan and his equally classless "leadership" cronies hid behind the specious threat of a Trump veto of the spending bill to sit on their butts in DC rather than doing their duty to attend Slaughter's service.
