SOUL | Orgone

Referencing Wilhelm Reich's theory that orgone energy permeates the universe, Org<ō>ne holds up to its cosmically inspired name. Based out of Los Angeles, the soul-funk outfit is currently celebrating the 2018 release of its newest album "Undercover Mixtape." Org<ō>ne radiates dirty grooves and a free spirited nature similar to The Meters, sprinkling in highly technical instrument solos. Vocalist Adryon de León brings the soul power of the band to a whole other level with the leonine volume of Aretha Franklin. The band's soulful attitude is reflected in its stylistic diversity, blending elements of rock with disco, Latin, and Afro-beat to create a musical melting pot.

Org<ō>ne will perform along with The English Project on Wednesday, November 7, 8 p.m. at Funk 'n Waffles, 204 North Water Street. $15-$20. 448-0354. funknwaffles.com; orgonespace.com.
