In response to reader George C. Payne's anger that this wife could not vote in the democratic primary because she is registered as an Independent. This has been the way elections have been run for decades in what he describes as "one of our most sacred enterprises as free citizens". Yet, he and his wife are just now realizing how the system works which shows me that either a) his wife just moved here within the past year, or b) they have not been participating in the "most sacred of enterprises as free citizens".
According to the website of the organization he referenced , he graduated from a Rochester college, which takes multiple years, had workshops in Rochester for over 5 years after that, and this is the first time he is learning the rules for voting in a primary that has been in place for multiple decades?
His answer is to be able to walk in and register the day of elections, never mind someone would have to cross check to make sure he isn't doing this at multiple sites around the city.
This is just another case of an uniformed citizen that wants to blame everybody else for their problem, not take any responsibility for their own failure to follow the procedures in place and then blame the man for keeping them down.
Get out and vote every year, and you will not have these problems.
Van White seeking "a person of color experienced with urban students".
Gee, suppose someone said, "we are seeking a white person" , that would be front page news at this publication and probably all the major news outlets.
