Written by Steven Peros and directed by Lindsay Warren Baker, The Cat’s Meow is based on true story in November of the year 1924. The story concerns the powerful William Randolph Hearst, at the helm of his yacht for a weekend cruise whose guest list includes Charlie Chaplin, who has been carrying on a secret affair with Hearst’s lover, Marion Davies. Thirteen passengers walk on board; and one is carried off horizontally two days later.
