The annual Sankofa Evening of Theatre and Jazz is pleased to kick off this year's event with the full length gospel drama "The Devoted Disciples" written by Robert Djed Snead. The play is directed by Sankofa artistic director and founder Curtis Rivers.This play is set in Rochester, NY in December 1964. The July 1964 riots, the deaths of Sam Cooke and Werner, Goodman and Cheney, and Christianity itself are intertwined with gospel quartet favorites "Mary Don't You Weep", "Jesus Build a Fence Around Me" and more!
