The Knowledge Bowl

In honor of Black History Month, the Rochester Board of Education is sponsoring its first annual Knowledge Bowl competition among students, modeled after the game of “Jeopardy”. Competing schools include: East High School; Monroe High School; Wilson Commencement Academy; Rochester Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) High School; Robert Brown High School of Construction and Design, and All City High School. The Knowledge Bowl will begin on Monday, February 24th and continue for each evening that week, culminating with the final competition on Thursday, February 27th. Each of the Knowledge Bowls will be held from 5:30-7:00PM at Wilson Foundation Academy, located at 200 Genesee Street. The final competition will be held on Thursday, February 27th from 5:30-6:00PM in Conference Room 3A of the Central Office Building, located at 131 West Broad Street. Teams will be selected at random to play against each other, and the winning team will go on to play one of the remaining teams the following evening. For the kickoff of the Knowledge Bowl on February 24th, two competitions will be held and the winner of the first competition will face off against one of the remaining teams, chosen at random. The winning team will go on to compete against a randomly chosen remaining team the following night. The winner of the final Knowledge Bowl on February 27th will receive a trophy for their school. On February 27th, the Board of Education will also honor outstanding African American scholars in the Rochester City School District and recognize an African American leader in the community. A reception will be held from 5:00-5:30PM, the final Knowledge Bowl from 5:30-6:00PM, and the Honors Program from 6:00-6:30PM.
