The Little closes Theater 1 for digital upgrade

The Little will temporarily close Theater 1 beginning Monday, May 12, for upgrades that will allow the space to show films released in a digital format. Theater 1, the Little’s largest venue, is expected to reopen by the end of the month, the organization said.

Theaters 2-5 underwent similar upgrades during summer 2013, and will continue to show films as normal.

While Theater 1 will gain digital capabilities, there will be no loss to its ability to show traditional film, the Little said. The space will continue to be able to show 35mm film reel-to-reel.

The Little is located at 240 East Avenue. For more information, check Thelittle.org.

In similar news, The Cinema Theater, at 957 S. Clinton Avenue, is closed until May 9 as it installs its own equipment for a digital upgrade. The theater is currently hosting an Indiegogo campaign to help defer the cost of the equipment. For more information, visit Cinemarochester.com.
