THEATER | "Avenue Q" 

Mix "Sesame Street" with some R-rated humor and you'll get the Tony Award-winning musical "Avenue Q," which opened Bristol Valley Theater's summer season on June 16 and continues through this weekend. A play incorporating both puppets and live actors, the production is a no-holds-barred comedy about the struggles of city living, and adjusting to adulthood and all that comes with it. "Avenue Q" has been a popular show in Rochester — Geva produced the show in 2012, and the musical was on stage last summer at Kodak Center — and is now directed by Benjamin Viertel for BVT. Although it might resemble a children's show, "Avenue Q" is definitely not for families or the faint of heart.

"Avenue Q" will continue onstage at Bristol Valley Theater (151 South Main Street, Naples) through Sunday, June 26. Shows at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23; 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25; 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 26. Tickets are $33 for adults, $31 for seniors, $12 for children, and $17 for college students. bvtnaples.org.
