THEATER | 'Family Affairs'

Black Sheep Theatre this weekend and next will take on two, unique one-act plays, each with interesting takes on what it means to be family and confronting the past together. In Downstate New York playwright Albi Gorn's "Othertown," two siblings — and former child TV stars — reunite to settle their mother's estate after her death. In the process they begin to question their childhood memories of their PBS-style show "Othertown," and face family secrets that were buried over the years. Then in "Ferryman," by California-based playwright Bridgette Dutta Portman, a solitude-loving hospital morgue director is interrupted by a young woman who believes she is dead. In the process of trying to regain his cherished peace, the man and woman are required to confront the ghosts of their pasts. Both one-act plays will be directed by Kristy Funderburk.

"Family Affairs" will take place Friday, April 13, through Sunday, April 15, and again Friday, April 20, and Saturday, April 21, at Black Sheep Theatre, 274 North Goodman Street, Studio D313. Fridays and Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m. $16 advance; $20 day of show. 861-4816.
