Open since 1988, making it perhaps Rochester’s oldest continually operating Japanese restaurant, Tokyo is an open, inviting space with a couple of serene tatami rooms. The food is refreshingly straightforward, mostly bypassing the frillier, pricier rolls that are lately so ubiquitous in favor of classic maki combinations. Tokyo also offers popular sushi bar appetizers as well as noodle, hot pot, bento, and hibachi options.
