Re: “Candidates file for Congressional races

I'm sure Louise Slaughter heard this same argument after she lost her first two races. Fortunately she had the fortitude to ignore people like you. Across the country this year, hundreds of women are stepping forward and running for Congress having never held prior elective office. This is a new wave and fortunately Rochester can join in by electing Ms. Barnhart. You are mired in a desire for politics as usual and donor controlled politicians. You are in a distinct minority. This year, in Rochester and across the country, voters will elect women who come from non-political careers because it's the only way to achieve real change. I applaud Ms. Barnhart's willingness to step forward and run. Voters will decide if she is the right choice. Not you Ms. Mitchell

Re: “In Grove Place and PLEX neighborhoods, hopes and fears of development

Homeowners in both of these neighborhoods ought to consider real change in City Hall by supporting Rachel Barnhart. Property tax cuts and fiber internet infrastructure will improve their property value and her accessibility and transparency will build trust. Visit rachelformayor.com

Re: “Alexander to be new deputy mayor

Like James Sheppard, Cedric Alexander had a disturbing record leading the Rochester Police Department. Alexander had SWAT teams patrol neighborhoods wearing full military gear and carrying rifles. He also implemented Operation Law and Order, in which officers looked for opportunities to search cars and people. (Democrat and Chronicle, 11/20/2005) These types of stop and frisk policies disproportionately impact communities of color, and have not been found to reduce crime.

Re: “To reach city's potential, rethink what is possible

A progressive, smart and innovative candidate who is not a party to either camp of the local, dysfunctional Democratic Party. She is exactly what this city needs and she should be endorsed by City Newspaper because she is the only one who can unite the Party and bring real change to Rochester

Re: “Feedback 2/22

Rachel Barnhart is the type of smart, progressive, and bold leader that Rochester needs. City Newspaper should catch up with it's readers and endorse Ms Barnhart this year.
