The art of making bobbins is slowly fading; Kenn Van Dieren is the only full-time bobbin maker in the United States, and one of 12 in the entire world. Bobbins are spools upon which thread is wound and used for sewing, lacemaking, or spinning. European countries had different styles of bobbins and Van Dieren will talk about the unique characteristics of different bobbins and how to make them (miniature lathe and hand tools).
