Immigration and border enforcement talk

The Rochester Committee on Latin America will present "The Border is Everywhere: Immigration History, Myth, and Current Reality," at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8. Grania Marcus, who has been involved with immigration issues in Florida, New York, and along the US-Mexico border for more than 30 years, is the featured speaker. Border enforcement that involves deportation and family separations will be discussed. The event will be held at Downtown United Presbyterian Church, 212 North Fitzhugh Street.

Transit planning meeting

The Genesee Transportation Council, the metropolitan planning organization for the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region, will hold a planning committee meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 9. The organization receives federal funding for highway and transit projects for the nine-county Rochester region. The meeting will be held at 47 South Fitzhugh Street.
