Warren appoints Curtin as city's corporate lawyer; Curran retiring 

Brian Curran, the city’s corporation counsel, will retire from his position on December 31, 2017. Mayor Lovely Warren has appointed Tim Curtin as his replacement. Curtin, who is currently deputy corporation counsel, will start on January 1, 2018.

Curtin was bond counsel for the city from 1994 to 2015 when Warren made him deputy corporation counsel. He also served as bond counsel for the Rochester Housing Authority and the county’s Industrial Development Agency.

Curran has a long history of public service in the Rochester area. He was deputy county executive from 1988 to 1991 and he served as a City Councilmember from 1994 to 2005. He served under Warren as corporate counsel for about two and half years.

“I could always count on Brian to provide sound advice on important legal matters and I greatly appreciated that he always put the interests of the citizens of Rochester first,” Warren said in a written statement.
Corporation counsel oversees the a team of attorneys and legal staff who provide advice to the mayor and City Council and attend to the city’s legal matters.
