Washington Grove volunteer day

When: Sat., Sept. 21, 9 a.m. 2013
Join the Friends of Washington Grove and your neighbors as we help to clean up the disturbed area created by the felling of the great old black oak tree at the Nunda Entrance of the Washington Grove forest. We’ll tell the story of why the oak had to come down and count the rings to check it’s age. We will also continue rooting out invasive autumn olive and English ivy. The Friends of Washington Grove work with the City of Rochester in its efforts to restore and preserve the old-growth forest in this beautiful Grove. We will meet at 9:00 AM at the Nunda entrance just off Cobb’s Hill Drive. Dress for the weather and bring work gloves. Please bring one of the following tools can if you have them: garden rake, pitch-fork, hatchet, small hand saw.
