Ghanaian drummer and composer Paa Kow demonstrated innate passion and musical skill early on, touring in his family's band. Branching out on his own, Paa Kow has released three studio albums since 2012, including his latest, 2017's "Cookpot." With the support of his Afro-Fusion orchestra, Paa Kow blends aspects of jazz, Afro-pop, and funk to create a tasty world-music stew. The drummer also creates polyrhythmic grooves that foster a lively, cheerful music experience.

Paa Kow will perform on Wednesday, September 5, at Funk 'n Waffles at 204 North Water Street. 8 p.m. $10. 18-and-over. 448-0354.;
